August 31, 2010, GSA announces new per diem rates for FY 2011, which reflect an average 3.85% decrease compared to FY 2010.  A complete list of all FY 2011 per diem rates is available at www.GSA.gov.perdiem.

August 31, 2010, FDA activates an online public measurement system - FDA-TRACK - to measure performance of more than 100 FDA program offices.

August 23, 2010, Federal Times publishes article on new DoD pay system for federal physicians.

August 18, 2010, the Director of OPM announced that pay and economic experts from OPM, the Office of Management and Budget, and the Labor Department will review the method the government uses to measure pay and decide whether any changes are needed.  Director Berry's action is in response to several recent report that federal employees are overpaid.

August 5, 2010, the Senate Veterans Affairs Committee approves legislation to ensure that VA physicians are fairly compensated and have access to the same appeals process as other VA staff when pay rules are not followed.

July 13, 2010, House passes telework legislation which guarantees certain eligible federal employees can telework 20 percent of the time.  Several groups of federal employees will not be eligible based on their duties and responsibilities.   Details in the next issue of Federal Physician.

May 28, 2010, the U.S. House of Representatives narrowly defeats plan to freeze federal pay.

May 4, 2010, legislation was introduced to allow OPM to extend insurance coverage to adult children until they turn 26 this year, instead of 2011.  Currently adult children are covered as dependents until age 22.

May 3, 2010
the Supreme Court ruled that individual physicians cannot be sued individually for claims of harm when performing their offical duties.

March 5, 2010, The Office of Personnel Management is working on a fix for the glitch in the federal retirement system in the Service Credit System which calculates retirement annuities for those who did not contribute to the retirement fund or those that received a refund of retirement contributions.
